Meet Clara
Hi, I’m Clara—and I believe food is the most heartfelt way we connect with the people we love. I’m 34, born and raised in Portland, Oregon, where the rain makes everything greener and the farmer’s markets are little pockets of joy. My kitchen is the heart of my home, often cluttered with fresh herbs, open cookbooks, and the comforting hum of something simmering on the stove.
My love for cooking didn’t begin in culinary school—it began at home, barefoot on a kitchen stool, watching my grandmother fold dumplings and roast chickens without ever using a recipe. She didn’t cook for praise or Pinterest—she cooked to make people feel full and cared for. That stuck with me. Even now, I don’t chase perfection. I chase flavor, nourishment, and those quiet moments when someone takes a bite and just closes their eyes in happiness.
I’m not classically trained, though I did take some community classes in my twenties and nearly burned down my apartment trying to flambé. What I am is curious—always reading, tasting, adjusting, learning. I’ve messed up plenty: sunken cakes, overcooked salmon, blender explosions (smoothie on the ceiling, anyone?). But I’ve also made a thousand tiny discoveries along the way that turned into something delicious and worth sharing.
ArtemisRecipes.com is my way of passing that joy on to you. Here you’ll find the kind of meals I make for my own family—nourishing everyday dishes, plant-based creations that even my meat-loving uncle approves of, high-protein recipes for those on-the-go days, and a few sweet treats and cozy drinks that feel like a hug in a mug. I want to make cooking feel less like a chore and more like a daily act of self-care.
On this blog, you’ll find recipes that are approachable, flexible, and full of heart. Whether you’re looking for quick weeknight dinners, wholesome plant-based inspiration, or protein-packed snacks to fuel your day, there’s something here for you. Every post is crafted with clarity, warmth, and just the right dose of encouragement—because I want you to feel confident in your kitchen, not overwhelmed by it.
And beyond the food, you’ll find little stories, honest tips, and the kind of cooking insights I wish someone had told me when I was just starting out. My hope is that ArtemisRecipes becomes your go-to space when you need something real, reliable, and a little bit joyful. So welcome—pull up a chair, and let’s get cooking.
